Animation Exercises | My very beginning

Build character with shape

This is brush text in PS class, I try to use some brush that I had to build some character.

The brush of the first person on the left reminded me of an elegantly dressed woman, so I drew it into the dress shape and gave the character a neckline and elegant gestures to build it up.

The person in the middle I was worried that the teacher would want our paintings to be based on outlines. To be conservative, I used shadows to draw personal figures directly, and temporarily added them. I was thinking of drawing a personalized outline of a character and I add horns and cloak to the character.

The last one, I was amazed by the alien’s brush, which made me feel mysterious, so I think of him as a magical Taoist priest who wearing a Taoist cloak. And I think the result came out really great.

Walking cycle exercise

Here is one of the walking cycle, I try to build character with some shape, and this one is a man walking with a swagger.

Jumping exercise

At the beginning of the design, I imagined him to be a killer on a mission. He was wearing a cape and a hat, running forward, taking off, stepping on the springboard, and then jumping into the air and doing a really cool action. At that time, I suddenly thought that I can add a gun to him, it would add more drama to the story. So I made him to turn around and shoot back after jumping up to the sky.

I didn’t draw very detailed, this is a very rough draft. I am not really familiar with TVP software, and I spent a lot of time to install and learn the software. Of course, another part of the reason is that I still need to strengthen my drawing practice. I have been a graphic designer outside for four years. I usually practice very little drawing. So I need and I will continue to strengthen my drawing practice.

Fruit smash exercise

This is fruit smash exercise I did on 2D Digital Technical Class – Photoshop, At first, I was learning how to use PHOTOSHOP to move animation keyframes for animation, so I drew a simple apple and adjusted its movement direction by displacement, which required me to set the layer as a video layer. Gradually, I began to master the animation using PHOTOSHOP keyframes, and I drew a scene of a big watermelon falling on a rock. The image in the video layer could only do simple displacement and scaling, so I smashed the watermelon and supplemented the scenes with smart layers

At first I was learning how to use PS to animate moving animation keyframes, so I drew a simple apple and adjusted the moving direction of the apple through displacement. This required me to set the layer as a video layer, and gradually I started to understand it. After using the PS keyframe to make the animation, I drew a scene where a big watermelon hit a rock. The image in the video layer can only be shifted and zoomed simply, so I used smart layers to supplement the last few shots of the watermelon smashed.
